About
Stephen Chimes Dental is now Dental Collective Rose Bay. The practice is at the same address, and Dr Chimes continues to practise there.

Dr Chimes graduated in Dental Surgery from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1979, and ran his own private practice in South Africa from 1982 to 1988. He emigrated to Australia in 1988 and opened a private practice in the city the same year. In 1994 he opened his Rose Bay practice, and he has practised exclusively there since 1996.
His clinical interests are implant dentistry, orthodontics, and restorations designed and milled with CEREC CAD/CAM technology, in which a crown or inlay is designed digitally from a scan of the tooth. He has provided implant treatment since 1990, and orthodontic treatment for more than 20 years.
He has completed more than 1,000 hours of postgraduate education, including the Progressive Orthodontic Seminars (POS) programme and Level 3 accreditation with the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry (ASID), and has brought digital equipment into the practice as it has become available.
At Rose Bay he practises alongside Dr Isabelle Felice, the principal dentist of Dental Collective, and Dr Jacky Li.
Dental implant treatment is a surgical procedure and carries risks, including infection, nerve injury, sinus complications and failure of the implant to integrate with the bone. Results vary between individuals, and suitability depends on an individual assessment. Alternatives include bridges and dentures, and a second opinion is always reasonable before any surgical treatment.
